Privacy, communications and website terms

Lumos CPA Professional Corporation. Effective October 9, 2026.

This page explains how Lumos CPA Professional Corporation (“Lumos CPA”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information and electronic messages, and the terms for using this website. It also applies to MD Launch, a service line of Lumos CPA, and to mdlaunch.ca.

1. Who is responsible

Please do not send sensitive information through the website. Do not include your Social Insurance Number, banking details, tax returns or other confidential documents when booking a meeting or sending a first email. If we work together, we will set up a secure way to exchange documents.

By booking a meeting, contacting us or otherwise giving us your information, you agree that we may collect, use and keep it for the purposes above. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and professional requirements, by contacting us. If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to continue providing some services.

5. Tools and service providers

We use trusted third parties to run this website and our practice. They may process your information on our behalf, and some of them store data outside Canada, including in the United States. Information held in another country may be accessible to courts and authorities there under local law.

We do not sell personal information.

6. Commercial electronic messages (CASL)

Canada’s Anti-spam Legislation (CASL) governs commercial emails and other electronic messages. Our practice is as follows.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by law and professional standards. Client records are retained for the periods that tax and professional record-keeping rules require, and are then securely destroyed or de-identified. Inquiry details from people who do not become clients are kept only for as long as reasonably useful and then deleted.

8. How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards, including access controls, two-factor authentication on key systems, encrypted connections and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please keep the limits in section 2 in mind.

9. Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Email info@lumoscpa.co and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in Quebec, you may have additional rights under provincial law, and you are welcome to contact us about them.
